Moving from spreadsheets, Word files and paper

Many Bible colleges and church Bible schools keep their records in spreadsheets, Word documents and paper files. That's a fine place to start from: send what you have, as it is.

1Send what you have

Spreadsheets (Excel, Google Sheets or CSV), Word documents, PDFs and photos all work. There's no template to fill in and nothing to retype.

If records are split across several files, by year, by instructor or by student, send them all. Bringing them together is part of the move.

2Records on paper

Photograph or scan paper transcripts and grade books, one page per image, in good light. A phone camera is enough.

We read the grades from the images into the student's record for you to check, and keep the original scan on the record as well.

3What you'll review

Before anything goes live you get a check report that lists:

  • How many students, courses and grades came across
  • People who appear more than once, such as the same student with two spellings of their name
  • Course codes or grades we couldn't match
  • Any student whose grade point average comes out different from your records, and why

You decide each question; nothing is guessed silently.

4If you also use Google Classroom

Classes, assignments and grades can stay in Google Classroom until the end of the term. See moving from Canvas, Moodle or Google Classroom for bringing course materials across.

5Next step

Start with the checklist, then book a call. Founding schools pay no onboarding fee.
